“Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.” –Martin Luther
Eric will be conducting the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra in a special concert in the beautiful Großer Saal in Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle on Thursday 31 October 2013. The programme includes Arvo Pärt’s Passio (Johannespassion) with the Eric Whitacre Singers. Moreover, the audience is invited to join in the second half performing some of his own works and a selection of Bach chorales, having attended a workshop earlier in the day. Weaved through the programme will be readings, inspired by Martin Luther’s quote.
You are invited to submit your own poems or prose (250-350 words) that will be read aloud during the concert. You might write something specifically for this event, or you might submit something that has been on your bottom shelf for years! It can be beautiful, moving, or clever; it just needs to be heartfelt, honest and human. Eric will choose a selection of the submissions and each will be read during the concert.
