This week sees Carl Nielsen’s 150th Anniversary! Born to a poor family in Denmark on 9th June 1865, he went on to become one of the world’s greatest composers and one of the world’s the most famous Danish composers.

Julian’s recent album, Mozart and Nielsen’s Clarinet Concerto, celebrates one of the many great works by this composer. Julian joins with the Royal Northern Sinfonia to perform Nielsen’s Clarinet Concert, one of the prominent works in the clarinet’s repertoire. The composer had been truly inspired to write for the clarinet, using its uniquely expressive qualities to produce enduring and comprehensively masterly composition.
