The last 3 weeks have seen The King’s Singers visit some extraordinary venues from the stunning Eglise Saint-Pierre, La Réole France to the grandeur of the Grand Philharmonic Hall, St Petersburg Russia. But perhaps the most enchanting of the recent performances was seeing two members of the group performing in their home towns.

They first visited Mayfield, West Sussex, the hometown to Christopher Gabbitas and his family. The Parish church nestled in the narrow streets of a beautifully quaint village, saw the pews packed and an incredibly warm reception. This being Julian Gregory’s first ever performance with The King’s Singers, it must have been quite a unique experience for him.

More recently The King’s Singers ventured to East Sussex, and the home and schooling of Jonathan Howard, Christ’s Hospital. Quite a different backdrop to that of Mayfield with its splendour and space in the school chapel.

How exciting, nerve-wrecking and emotional it must be to bring what is such a large part of their lives to the doorstep of family and friends.
