Congratulations to former King’s Singer, Nigel Short, who wins his first Gramophone Award as the producer for The Spy’s Choirbook. Released on the Obsidian label, the recording by David Skinner, the English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble and Alamire contains 34 four-voice motets by French and Franco-Flemish composers.
The King’s Singers have had the pleasure to collaborate with Professor David Skinner who worked with them to devise the programme of Renaissance works for their Jean Richafort Requiem disc. Nigel Short left the group in 2000, founding his professional choir Tenebrae and creating an exceptional catalogue of recordings as their conductor. The KS invited Nigel to produce his first recording with the group this year, who share that it was an exceptionally positive experience for all. They look forward to releasing the recording next year on Signum Records.
