Eric Whitacre is writing a new piece for orchestra and chorus to premiere in May 2015 with the Minnesota Orchestra and Minnesota Chorale.

I’ve been planning/conceiving the work for several months now but still haven’t written a note of music. Tonight I sketched out – in prose – what I imagine the basic structure will be. After this I’ll begin drawing abstract pictures, further refining the emotional structure. Probably will start writing the actual notes and rhythms in a couple of weeks. – EW
