The King’s Singers are greatly saddened to hear of the death earlier today of Sir David Willcocks. Sir David was Director of Music at King’s College, Cambridge, and under him King’s Choir flourished. His musicianship, allied to his exacting standards, were an inspiration to the founder members of the KS, who were choral scholars in his choir. He also started the musical careers of two other former King’s Singers, Bruce Russell and Bob Chilcott, who were both choristers. Read the full statement from Gramophone.
